Currencies

BVNK supports a broad and continually expanding range of currencies. This page offers a comprehensive overview of all currently supported currencies and their specifications.

How currencies work​

BVNK classifies currencies into two categories:

  • Fiat: Traditional government-issued currencies such as USD, EUR, and GBP.
  • Crypto: Digital currencies secured by cryptography such as BTC, ETH, and USDC.

Each currency on the platform is designated as either deliverable or non-deliverable:

  • Deliverable currencies are held by BVNK on behalf of partners, enabling deposits and withdrawals to external bank accounts. The API identifies these with the supportsDeposits: true flag.

  • Non-deliverable currencies are virtual currencies available for wallet use and internal transfers with non-volatile balances. You cannot withdraw these as actual funds.

Platform availability​

Currency functionality varies by BVNK product:

  • Portal: Certain currencies support wallet creation, enabling you to hold balances and make transfers.
  • Payments API (Display): Fiat currencies are shown on customer payment pages, typically matching the wallet currency.
  • Payments API (Crypto): Customers can pay merchants using supported cryptocurrencies that have the supportsDeposits: true flag.

To determine if a currency supports deposits, use the List Crypto Currencies or List Fiat Currencies endpoints. Currencies with supportsDeposits set to true in the response can receive incoming funds. Those with supportsDeposits set to false are available for display or conversion only.

Crypto protocols and networks​

Each cryptocurrency operates on one or more blockchain networks, also known as protocols. For example, USDC is available on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and other networks. When sending crypto to BVNK, ensure you use the correct network for both the currency and the destination address.

If you send funds using an unsupported network or protocol, those funds may be permanently lost. BVNK cannot guarantee recovery of tokens sent via the wrong chain.

When using the Hosted Payments Page, BVNK displays the required network and token standard next to the deposit address. Always verify the following:

  1. The network selected in your external wallet matches the network shown by BVNK.
  2. The address format is compatible with the expected protocol (for example, an ERC-20 address for Ethereum-based tokens).

The tables below list each supported cryptocurrency and its network, allowing you to confirm compatibility before initiating a transfer.

Minimum transaction amounts​

All transactions processed through BVNK must meet a minimum value of EUR 1 or its equivalent in your chosen cryptocurrency or fiat currency. This threshold applies to both pay-ins (deposits) and payouts (withdrawals) across all supported cryptocurrencies. The equivalent is determined when the transaction is submitted.

Transactions below the EUR 1 equivalent will not be processed, credited, or received by the beneficiary. BVNK cannot recover these funds.

If your payment flows already process amounts above EUR 1, no action is required. If your system may generate transactions below this threshold, update your payment logic to enforce the minimum before submitting requests to BVNK.

Fiat payout networks​

BVNK pays out USD, EUR, and GBP over local and international payment networks. Payouts in eight more currencies over local banking networks are upcoming: these are domestic networks in the beneficiary's own country, used instead of SWIFT. The upcoming currencies are marked in the table below.

Delivery times apply to payouts submitted before the cut-off time. Once available, local banking network payouts in BRL, MXN, ARS, and CAD will support B2B and P2P payments, from a minimum of USD 1 (BRL 10, about USD 1.92, in Brazil) up to USD 100,000 for B2B and USD 25,000 for P2P. Cryptocurrencies​

Crypto transactions must obtain enough confirmations on the relevant blockchain before they are considered complete. BVNK will wait for the Required confirmations detailed below to be reached.

USDC on Stellar

The Decimals column shows each token's on-chain precision. For USDC on Stellar, BVNK processes amounts to 2 decimal places (whole US cents) and discards any fractional cents submitted through the API. For example, a payout of 10.257 USDC is processed as 10.25 USDC.
